Bella Hadid is officially in her Metaverse era. The model is getting into the NFT game selling cyber versions of herself to collectors around the globe.
As noted by Dazed, Bella has been working with ten artists to create virtual versions of herself, including a cyborg Bella with an icy blonde bob with red tips who wears a complicated bodysuit of red ropes. There will be 11,111 versions of Bella for purchase — or CY-B3LLA as this digital version of the model is now known. The artists used a 3D model of Bella’s body to create their CY-B3LLAs so each design looks almost like it could walk right off your screen and onto the runway.
According to Bella, her line of NFTs is less about making money and more about creating a community with fans. The model enjoys playing video games and the idea hit during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Over quarantine, my dream was to be a full gamer girl and play other people,” she told Vogue of her new venture. “When the NFT craze came, I was genuinely curious about what that community looked like. It went from gaming — me wanting to create this cool avatar and be in that universe and connect with people — to this.”
When you buy your own CY-B3LLA, you ‘ll get a certificate of authenticity — but could you also unlock a closer relationship with the model herself. Owners get access to a special Discord for fans where you can connect with Bella directly, as well as potential “secret” meet and greets. “We’re gonna set up different events. Tokyo — I hope that’s one of our first launch spaces. It’d be an airdrop essentially: If you’re in Tokyo having coffee and all of a sudden I’m right next door to you, you’d get a ping,” Bella told Vogue of her plans for the CY-B3LLA community. “Just going to different places I love and seeing the people who support me and giving them a real hug.”
