Zaria is Faran Bryant, a fearless and bold ballerina ready to make her dreams come true and take down Karen, the show’s resident villain. Faran is determined to leave behind her small town, but as much as she looks to the future, she’s also grounded in the present, relying on the support of her best friends.
PLL marks Zaria’s first major starring role. Previously, she had a guest role on Black-ish and appeared in the Oscar-winning short film Two Distant Strangers.
As for how she discovered Pretty Little Liars, Zaria told Teen Vogue that she started with the books. “I changed schools a lot, and when I was going to a new school, my friend — who ended up not being such a friendly person — gave me that book,” she said “We had some racially charged confrontations where she would say some really nasty things. So having this role in this world where someone that I thought was a friend gave me this book, it just all seemed so magnetic.”
Malia Pyles as Minnie “Mouse” Honrada
Malia Pyles gets her first major role as Minnie (Mouse) Honrada, the youngest of the Liars. Mouse is still working through the impact of a childhood trauma, and she copes by escaping to an online virtual world. “She finds solace in her isolation, and I think that’s why the relationships with these other girls are so impactful,” Malia told Teen Vogue. “Because it’s the first time that she’s had friends and community. She really steps into a protector role in a big way this season, and finds her power and her voice.”
Malia, who is 22 years old, had just made the move to Los Angeles, California when she received word that she’d be joining the PLL cast. Born in Orange County, California, Pyles started pursuing her superstardom dreams at the age of 8.Her previous screen credits include small roles on The Fosters, How to Get Away With Murder, and Baskets.
