In celebration of Latinx Heritage Month, TikTok is honoring Latinx creators who use the app to drive culture, influence, and joy across the Latinx community and beyond. TikTok has selected 11 content creators to honor as Latinx Trailblazers this year, recognizing them on the official 2022 Latinx TikTok Trailblazers List.
“We’re proud to unveil our third cohort of Latinx TikTok Trailblazers, the next generation of trendsetters and digital entertainment leaders nominated by the community for their creativity and authenticity,” TikTok said in a statement shared with Teen Vogue. “Throughout Latinx Heritage Month, our 2022 Trailblazers will share their stories through creator spotlights on @TikTokCreators, @TikTok and our newly launched @CasaTikTok account.”
Latinx Heritage Month runs from September 15 to October 15. TikTok is in full celebration mode —the presentation of their Trailblazers is only one component of their “Es una Cosa Latina” initiatives and in-app programming, which aims to amplify and honor Latinx cultural traditions.
One of those initiatives is the TikTok Latinx Creatives Grant, In Partnership with MACRO and UnbeliEVAble Entertainment. TikTok has selected 10 grant recipients to receive $50,000 and two personalized coaching sessions from their grant partners to help bring a dream creative project to life, regardless of the medium.
TikTok is also putting on a lineup of themed LIVES with Latinx creators, launching the #Rompiendo series on @MusicOnTikTok to spotlight Latinx musicians, and hosting the second installment of their Visionary Voices Salon series on Thursday, September 15 in New York City. The event is intended to spotlight industry changemakers across the Latinx diaspora and will feature a panel discussion with Julissa Prado, founder of Rizos Curls, TikTok Latinx Creatives Grant recipient Jorge Alvarez, and 2021 LGBTQ+ TikTok Trailblazer Kenneth Pabon.
TikTok’s 2022 cohort of Latinx Trailblazers create content that speaks to all corners of the diaspora and appeals to all corners of the platform: entertainment, beauty and fashion, advocacy, wellness, food, you name it.
