Mac-Haydn Theatre in Chatham has ushered in its Fall season with a series of specials and special packages. The Full Monty winds up its run this holiday weekend. They are also introducing the resident company in a production entitled Showstoppers which will be playing throughout the month of September. The review highlights some of the season’s “stars” but mainly offers the chorus performers a chance to shine. Mac-Haydn regular Gabe Belyeu continues his one-man concert, A Call to Places through the month. Patrons can purchase packages of two productions to save 25% off standard pricing, or three shows and save 30% off regular priced tickets. Those attending the Columbia County Fair may bring their fair ticket or proof of Fair entry one hour before any performance through the 4th and receive $15 off their walk-up ticket.

Meanwhile. Back in Albany, Capital Repertory Theatre is presenting the first of what they hope will be an annual event entitled Pearl Side Community Arts Festival from Friday, September 8 through Sunday, September 12th.
Produced by theREP, and in partnership with Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate NY, African American Cultural Center of the Capital Region, Troy Foundry Theatre, and Albany Center Gallery, this five-day festival is FREE and open to the public and will feature theatre productions, specifically commissioned for the festival; visual arts, including the creation of a community mural; African drumming; poetry, including a slam contest (with monetary prizes) hosted by D. Colin; Story Hour sessions with Barbara Howard, Jizabell Lee and the RED Bookshelf; and an Open Mic where the community can let their light – and talents – shine on theREP’s mainstage. This event is free, no tickets are necessary.
Playhouse Stage is readying their 35th season kick-off in October with Assassins at The Cohoes Music Hall.
