Cara Delevingne “Had Fun” Kissing Selena Gomez in “OMITB”

One day after Only Murders in the Building Season 2 premiered on Hulu, a clip from the sophomore season went viral: Selena Gomez and Cara Delevingne sharing a passionate kiss.

It was first announced that Cara would join the cast of the comedy whodunit as a series regular back in December 2021. A fair amount of info was initially shared about the supermodel’s character Alice, who was described as “a sophisticated art world insider who becomes enmeshed in the mystery” by Deadline

Then in May 2022, Vanity Fair revealed that Alice would be the new love interest for Selena’s character Mabel — after the two characters meet, Alice “puts Mabel in touch with a side of herself she’s been somewhat neglecting since the show began.”

Now, a scene from Season 2 in which Selena embraces Cara in a steamy kiss is sending fans into a frenzy. “Selena Gomez destroying a piece of art with an axe and then kissing Cara Delevingne all whilst ‘You Should See Me in a Crown’ by Billie Eilish plays, is the perfect end to Pride Month that I never knew I needed,” tweeted one person.

“It’s insane how much electric chemistry Selena Gomez and Cara Delevingne have, like, immediately,” tweeted another.

On June 28, Cara opened up about the kiss while appearing on E!‘s web series While You Were Streaming. “It was just fun,” Cara said. “Would anyone in the world not like to kiss Selena?”

Selena and Cara are best friends, and have been best friends for yearsthe pair even have matching tattoos! “It was amazing to have the two of them know each other and feel comfortable,” Only Murders showrunner John Hoffman told Vanity Fair back in May. “It’s a little sparky in all the right ways that makes you feel like, ‘Oh, someone’s opening someone’s world.’”

“It was just hysterical,” Cara said on While You Were Streaming. “It’s just one of those things, especially when you know someone so well, it’s the comfortability and you kind of have fun with it… We never get to see each other as much because we’re so busy. So to be able to spend that much time with her, and also to be able to work with her, she’s just such an incredible person to work with whether I know her or not. She is brilliant, like one of my favorite actors I’ve ever worked with.”

Cara, who is openly queer, also shared that playing a role on Only Murders in the Building that aligned with her own identity felt impactful. “For me to be able to get to play a queer role meant so much to me, and [Selena] knew that,” she added. “To represent that was really exciting.”
