Carly Rae Jepsen Just Made Lingerie a Summer Outfit Staple

We’re not too proud to admit that over the last two years sometimes our underwear may have acted as our workwear, but Carly Rae Jepsen just took it to a whole new level.

On Monday, June 11, the Canadian bop-maestro wrapped up a run of European festival dates with a solo stop in London’s picturesque Somerset House. She took to the stage in a lingerie-inspired look that was a perfect match for the city’s surprise heatwave — and one we’re going to be coveting for the rest of the summer.

While wowing the 3000-person crowd with hits like “Call Me Baby,” “Run Away With Me” and the euphoric “Cut to the Feeling,” Carly spun across the stage in an all-black lace and sheer leotard embellished with frills and major cut-outs.

The bottom of Carly’s one-piece was trimmed with pink satin bows and ribbons that highlighted dramatic cut-outs, which ran the length of her legs and tapered off into flouncy flares that whipped around her as she danced across the stage and ran into the crowd to meet excited fans.

As well as the nostalgic hits, Carly also ran through newer songs from her 2019 album Dedicated like “Want You in My Room,” “No Drug Like Me,” and “Julien,” which she admitted was about a French man she was in love with when she was 19. She also opened her song “Too Much” with a piece of life advice for the crowd: “I always worried about being too loud, too crazy, too emotional, too nuts – but with the right partner, there’s no such thing as too much.” Hear, hear!

If the next time you feel a pull to wear some fun underwear outside but worry it’s too much, just listen to our Patron Saint of joyful heartbreak, Carly Rae Jepsen!
