Clue Records release compilation album to mark 10th anniversary

Leeds-based label Clue Records have today released a compilation album to mark 10 years since the label was started.

Created by Scott Lewis in 2012, Clue Records has been championing and developing talent for the past decade, and importantly helping local artists kickstart their music careers. Artists that have released via Clue in the past few years include LDOI favourites such as Team Picture, Bored At My Grandma’s House, and Van Houten, alongside big names like The Wedding Present.

The album – named ‘Give Us A Clue’ – features all of the artists named above, alongside many others, creating a 34-song strong compilation spanning various genres. The album is available to buy as both a deluxe CD and as a special edition double vinyl with a Zoetrope picture disk, as well as being on streaming services.

Speaking about Give Us A Clue, Lewis said: “When I realised in 2021 that we were on the cusp of turning 10 it felt like a nice time to celebrate and get back in touch with all of our artists, see how they wanted to be involved. It wasn’t until the planning started & conversations with artists had begun that I started getting really excited
about it.”

“Everyone I spoke to was so enthusiastic and excited to be part of the celebrations, it made me reflect on just how much we’d managed to achieve in the last 10 years and the brilliant people and artists we’d build relationships with. The music industry has been a difficult place to exist recently so it’s nice to be able to have lasted as long as we have. And it’s not the end either, we’ve plenty more in us yet, bring on the next decade!”, he continued.

A number of live showcases are also taking place as part of the 10 year celebrations, with an album release show set to be hosted at Leeds’ Brudenell Social Club tomorrow (5th November), featuring a line-up of Bored At My Grandmas House, YOWL, Crushed Beaks, Nine Black Alps’ Sam Forrest, Avalanche Party, Pit Pony and Gawjuss.
