According to a source with E! News, the pair have made the decision to remain just friends. The source added that the former couple has “a lot of love and respect for each other,” but said their busy schedules and the distance required of various work commitments “made it really difficult to maintain a relationship.”
A source with People also confirmed the reported split, which allegedly occurred sometime this week.
The pair first sparked dating rumors back in October 2021. Spotted holding hands at Knott’s Scary Farm, the two previously downplayed any reported romance, saying they were just friends.
That relationship status later changed. As Kim revealed during a previous confessional on The Kardashians, the two had first connected after her time as host on Saturday Night Live. Sharing a kiss during a sketch, the two later started texting, and the rest was romantic history.
Pete put the previous reported romance rumors to rest, affirming that Kim was his girlfriend in a February 2021 interview. They later made their first public appearance as a couple, attending the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. Days later, they attended the Met Gala together, closing out fashion’s biggest night.
Throughout the duration of their relationship, the two gave subtle nods to one another through their styling choices. While Pete chose multiple Kim-inspired tattoos, Kim chose a manicure that was a nod to the comedian. At one point, the two also had matching blonde dye jobs.
As of Friday evening, the pair has yet to confirm their reported split. However, much of their relationship has been chronicled across social media. Pete frequently made appearances on Kim’s social media posts and was set to appear in the upcoming Kardashians season. E! News had reached out to Kim and Pete’s reps to confirm the split, but had not heard back.
