Lil Nas X just got his very own wax figure, and he’s celebrating by doing what he does best: trolling friends like Addison Rae, Olivia Rodrigo, and Lizzo.
On September 20, the star took to TikTok to reveal his brand new Madame Tussauds wax figure, which will be displayed at the Madame Tussauds Hollywood museum in LA. A rite of passage in any celeb’s career, the outfit chosen for Lil Nas X’s wax figure is none other than his infamous gold Versace body armor ‘fit with built-in six-pack, one of the three outfits that he wore to the 2021 Met Gala. (ICYMI, Lil Nas pulled a Lady Gaga on the red carpet for the event.)
After posting two videos posing with his “twin,” Lil Nas decided it was time to kick things up a notch and decided to FaceTime some of his (very famous) friends and family pranking them by pretending to be the figure — and the reactions are priceless.
First up is Addison Rae, who apparently does not call the star by his name but by an affectionate nickname that appears to be “Nas-squeaky” or “Nas-ty.” After a couple of seconds, she realizes what’s going on and proclaims: “That’s insane.”
Next up and keeping it Gen Z is Olivia Rodrigo, who picks up the video call while en route inside a car. Much like Steve Lacy who’s up next, Olivia doesn’t realize what’s going on until Lil Nas himself step on the frame to announce it wasnt indeed him but a wax figure. “It looks so real, right?” he says multiple times throughout the video.
Rico Nasty, Larray, and many more have similar reactions. However, he didn’t get everyone. Troye Sivan clocks what’s going on from the get-go and does James Charles. “The Madame Tussauds logo is right there,” the beauty influencer promptly screams when asked how we could tell the difference, which makes Lil Nas burst out laughing.
The last person on the line is Lizzo, who very much falls for the prank but takes a minute to ask the important questions. “I f*cking thought that was you and I was like, ‘why are you in your Met Gala outfit?’” Incredible detective skills.
Lil Nas X is not the first celeb to pull off this type of prank. Brazilian superstar Anitta also did the same a few months earlier, in June, when she got her very own figure at the Madame Tussauds museum in New York and the results are just as hilarious. In her video, Anitta rings up the likes of J Balvin, Chlöe Bailey, and Lele Pons.
Even back in 2017, Kylie Jenner pulled a similar prank on her family when her own wax figure, also sporting a Met Gala dress, was revealed — though she did not share the actual video with her fans. Now we are wondering, who will be next?
