As if you needed more proof that Harry Styles and Lizzo have the cutest friendship, they’re being cute again.
On Tuesday, Lizzo posted a TikTok holding a huge, gorgeous arrangement of flowers, with pink, orange, and red roses and chrysanthemum galore. In the caption, complete with seven long-tear emojis, the singer revealed that the flowers were sent as a gift from Harry. “Yall harry got me flowers congratulating me on about damn time going #1 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭,” Lizzo wrote on TikTok.
“Thanks for the flowers, Harry!” she says in the short clip, before leaning forward to smell the bouquet with a smile.
“About Damn Time” hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts is a big deal, and a career milestone for Lizzo. According to Billboard, the single is her second Hot 100 leader after 2019’s “Truth Hurts.” The top record that “About Damn Time” dethroned from that number one spot, however, was Harry Styles’ lead single from Harry’s House, “As It Was.” Harry sending Lizzo congratulations flowers for beating out his own track makes his gift that much more touching.
Harry and Lizzo have been close friends for a few years now, ever since Harry went viral for covering Lizzo’s smash hit “Juice” during his BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge set back in 2019. Lizzo has supported Harry at his concerts, attending the Los Angeles show of Harry’s Love On Tour in 2021. Earlier this year, the two shared a stage together when Harry brought Lizzo out as a guest performer during his Coachella 2022 headlining set. Wearing matching feathered Gucci coats, the two singers brought the house down while performing a cover of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive” and a funky remix of One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful.”
In a heartwarming Instagram post after the performance, Lizzo expressed her gratitude for Harry’s friendship. “Thanks @coachella … last night was amazing— @harrystyles is a treasure, gods gift to rock n roll, the light that comes from him is real and infinite.. he makes being on stage in front of hundreds n thousands easy, cus it’s w a friend.” In a follow-up post of the best backstage selfie we have literally ever seen, Harry and Lizzo were all smiles: “Proud of you @harrystyles. Thank u for having me 🥺.”
If Harry’s gift to Lizzo is any indication, that “proud friend” feeling is definitely mutual. We’re not crying, you’re crying!
