What’s this?! Phoebe Bridgers is officially headed to Halloween Town — though for two nights only. The “Motion Sickness” singer has been tapped to take on the iconic role of Sally, the deuteragonist from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, in a concert adaption of the beloved film.
Ticketing company AXS announced the news with a short video published on October 17, 2022. Phoebe Bridgers is set to perform Sally’s songs on the upcoming iteration of The Nightmare Before Christmas Live in Concert. She will join Danny Elfman — the writer of all the songs featured in the film as well as Jack Skellington’s original singing voice — and Ken Page, the original Oogie Boogie.
This version of The Nightmare Before Christmas Live in Concert featuring Phoebe is scheduled to take place in London’s OVO Arena Wembley to celebrate the upcoming holidays. There will be two concerts, on December 9 and 10 respectively. The trio will be accompanied on stage by the BBC Concert Orchestra.
Described by AXS as a “unique live cine-concert production,” The Nightmare Before Christmas Live will feature live performances by the main trio and the orchestra — as well as “very special guests” — while the entire film is projected on the big screen.
This is the second time the production will make its way to London’s OVO Arena Wembley after a successful run in 2019. Previously, the live concert had also traveled to Los Angeles, New York, and even Tokyo. (ICYMI: in October 2021, it was Billie Eilish who sang as Sally at L.A.’ Banc of California Stadium.)
If you happen to be in London in December while the concerts are taking place, know that costumes are encouraged!
