CAN I MAKE THESE BACON WRAPPED SHRIMP IN ADVANCE?
You can wrap the shrimp in bacon and place them in the fridge up to 3 days in advance. The sauce can also be prepared 3 days ahead as well. Before serving simply brush the shrimp in the sauce and put them in the oven to bake.
CAN I USE TURKEY BACON?
Feel free to use any kind of bacon that you prefer! Turkey bacon or pork bacon both work well. I prefer using thin rather than thick strips of bacon because they are much easier to wrap around the shrimp.
I DON’T HAVE SHRIMP, IS THERE SOMETHING ELSE I CAN USE?
If you don’t have large shrimp or prawns, scallops could be used instead. Wrap the bacon around the scallops and bake them in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 18 minutes.
WHAT SIZE SHEET PAN SHOULD I USE?
I recommend using a sheet pan at least 10 x 15″ in size. It must be large enough to space the shrimp out evenly without touching. If the shrimp touch or overlap while cooking this will prevent the bacon from becoming crispy.
WHAT’S IN THE SWEET & SPICY SAUCE?
This sauce is incredibly easy to make and is the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. Be sure to taste the sauce and adjust any quantities of cayenne/honey or salt as needed to suit your taste.
- Honey: it makes the shrimp both sweet and sticky. Maple syrup can be used as a substitute.
- Butter: either melted butter or ghee would both work for this (use ghee if Paleo).
- Cayenne Pepper: this is what gives the shrimp a kick of spice. If you don’t have cayenne, chili powder would work as well.
- Paprika: regular or smoked paprika work.
- Black Pepper: I like using fresh cracked black pepper because of its strong flavour
HOW SPICY ARE THESE BACON WRAPPED SHRIMP?
2 teaspoons of cayenne pepper makes these shrimp very spicy, if you are serving them to kids, or a crowd adverse to spice, I recommend using only 1 teaspoon.
CAN I MAKE THESE BACON WRAPPED SHRIMP IN THE AIRFRYER?
I prefer to cook these shrimp on a baking sheet so the sauce remains around them while the cook, whereas with an airfryer I find that the sauce falls through the rack as they cook. That being said you definitely can still cook them in the airfryer. I recommend preheating the airfryer at 370 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes before adding the bacon wrapped shrimp, this will help the bacon on the underside of the shrimp to crisp up. After 5 minutes add the shrimp to the airfryer and cook for 6 minutes at 370 degrees until the shrimp are pink and the bacon is cooked through.
HOW TO SERVE THESE BACON WRAPPED SHRIMP?
I like serving a big plate of these Bacon Wrapped Shrimp as an appetizer for a barbecue, as part of a game day spread, or with cocktails. You can serve them with toothpicks, or a fork or let people pick the shrimp up by their tales. The shrimp can also be eaten as a main with a big salad.
WHAT ABOUT LEFTOVERS
Any leftover bacon wrapped shrimp will last for up to 4 days in the fridge. They can be reheated on a baking sheet in the oven at 350 degrees fahrenheit for 5 minutes or place them in a pan on medium high heat and cook for 2 minutes per side until warmed through.

Hot Honey Glazed Bacon Wrapped Shrimp
Spicy Honey Glazed Bacon Wrapped Shrimp are the perfect appetizer to feed a crowd. They take less than 30 minutes to make and are incredibly easy to prepare.
- 15-20 large shrimp shelled and deveined
- 8-10 strips bacon
- 1/3 cup melted butter or ghee
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tsp cayenne powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Preheat the oven top 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper
Cut each strip of bacon in half lengthwise so that you have long thin strips.
Wrap each shrimp in a half piece of bacon. Place the shrimp on the baking sheet with the seam side down so they don’t unravel. Repeat with the remaining shrimp and bacon strips
In a bowl whisk together the melted butter, honey, black pepper, cayenne pepper and paprika. Taste and add more spice/honey as desired.
Using half of the sauce, brush each shrimp generously with the sauce. Place the tray in the oven to bake for 12 minutes.
After 12 minutes of cooking, remove the tray from the oven, flip all of the shrimp over and generously brush them with the remaining sauce.
Return the shrimp to the oven to cook for 5 more minutes or until the bacon is crisp. Serve the shrimp warm
